Bob Hoelter, the local resident of Griffith Indiana, often wonders that it might have been something divine intervention that at one winter night he had to walk 2 miles away from his home to a local store where things transpired differently than had hoped for.
He said to media, “I usually drive from my house to the store but that night I decided to have some exercise.”
As Hoelter was crossing the bridge he heard a noise from down below. Listening to the noise closely, it was a whimper of an animal. He said, “I was looking or the source of the sound but found nothing.”
The cries were coming from the darkness beneath the bridge. Hoelter climbed down to help the one whose cries were originating from the icy cold place.
Hoelter said, “I took out my flashlight which I normally carry around with me. I reached the bottom and then I finally saw him.”
There, at Hoelter was looking a shivering small puppy. As for the next thing Hoelter saw, he could not believe it. The mouth of the pup was taped shut. His mouth had been closed with electrical tape.
Hoelter said, “I was like Oh, Shit.”
Hoelter took immediate action and took the pup to the Griffith Animal Hospital which was still open at that time.
He said, “I took the puppy to the hospital while covering him inside my jacket on foot.”
The scene of Hoelter bursting into the clinic, the manager of the Griffith Animal Hospital Lori Kovacich, could never forget in her life.
Lori Kovacich said that horrified I grabbed the pup and took him to the vet staff. After leaving the pup there, Hoelter headed out to the store.
The vet staff worked on the dog that was really underweight and skin around the tape had also been damaged badly. They estimated that tape was on for many days.
They successfully removed the tape and set him up with a warm blanket and some toys.
Staff also found that pup had a broken leg as well which required surgery. They believed that someone might have thrown him top of the bridge and pup barely missed the water as he landed on the ground.
Kovacich distressed by puppy’s condition put up a post for adoption which caught the eye of a couple. The couple had recently lost their dog and shortly after they read about this pup.
The Wittings came to meet the pup and decided to adopt him. They named him Louie.
Another story transpired when Hoelter’s niece saw the spot and decided to reunite the pup with her uncle.
Hoelter was amazed to see the pup and said he did not think that dog would recognize him.
When Louie saw Hoelter, he gave him a lot of kisses.
Hoelter is so happy that Louie found a lovely forever home.
Hoelter is happy that he was able to walk that day from his home and heard the dog’s cries and was also grateful that the clinic that day was also open.
