Recently an enthusiastic dog has become somewhat of a celebrity in India after he participated in the region’s one of the most important religious ceremonies.
According to the man who captured the footage of the dog, who also happens to be the friend of the dog’s owner; dog after hearing the temple music coming from a nearby temple decided to join in on the singing after hearing it.
And this is just not a onetime thing for this dog.
Sushma Date said, “This devout dog is a dog of my friend’s factory. On every Thursday evening, this dog walks to the nearby temple and joins their keertan.”
Keertan or simply Kirtan is religious style music of Hindu religion which dates back to thousands of years in the past. Although the pup is not aware of the Keertan’s history but something about it really seems to click with him as the dog sits there with other devout and gives out howls after howls
As the other devout people gathered in the temple play their instrument and sing their own chants, they seem to have been accustomed to the dog’s participation in their ritual and some even give the dog encouraging pats on his head.
It is a speculation that one of the things other than music that makes the dog keep coming back is the food. Date wrote on her Twitter account, “after his singing, he gets his share of the Prasad and runs back home.
Prasad is a type of a vegetarian snack that is blessed an after that shared among the other people present on these ceremonies. As for this case, it is shared with people and one special dog.
According to news from Date, the dog keeps coming back to the temple for singing and his share of Prasad every Thursday evening.
