In a town of Mexico known as Mazunte in Oaxaca, travelers often see a peculiar sight on the road. There is a man who pushes his trolley alongside the road which is surrounded by lots of dogs. Some of these dogs are also sitting on top of the trolley and the man is dragging the trolley in the company of these dogs. These dogs are wagging their tails as their barking sounds are heard. The man, without worrying about heat or cold, pushes his trolley all year long.
This man is known by the name of Edgardo Perros and this is his story. Edgardo Perros has walked the perimeter of Mexico for nearly 14000 kilometers along with his trolley to help save the sick and injured dogs. In the last 6 years, Edgardo Perros has saved the lives of nearly 500 dogs. Whenever he finds a dog that is injured beyond saving, he then lies down beside it and gives him company as the dog passes away.
This act of selflessness and service to the mute animals is what is making people give their attention to Edgardo Perros.
Edgardo Perros has walked nearly the entire perimeter of Mexico along with his trolley and the dogs chasing behind it. He helps every dog on his way.
Edgardo Perros, the 49 years old peddler said, “No one seems to be helpful to these homeless dogs. This is why I feel the pain for them”.
What hurt me is not that these dogs are battered, abandoned or hurt, the real pain is for the person who is doing this.”
I think that no matter a person or an animal, in this kind of situation, they all need a company along with some love.
In the last 6 years, Edgardo Perros as saved the lives of nearly 500 stray dogs that were either sick or injured.
He also found many dogs that were so badly injured that they could not be saved. Edgardo Perros says, “To these dogs, I usually keep them company until they pass away in a natural way.”
To this day, Edgardo Perros has walked a distance of nearly 14000 kilometers and is only 1432 kilometers short of walking across the entire Mexico.
Since the beginning, Edgardo Perros had 3 of his own dogs that started this journey alongside him.
This one’s name is Negro.
This is Blanco.
And this one’s Chillestas.
This dog’s name is Patuleco which has been born with a rare condition called Swimmers Syndrome. This causes the dog a certain dysplasia which leaves him with no knees. He has been on the road with Edgardo Perros for nearly 3 years.
This is the 3 legged dog named Sin Pata who has been traveling with the gang for now 1 year.
This beautiful China Pong has been travelling on the road for about 3 years and is looking for a home.
As for Kiwi, she was found with the skin condition but now she is doing great.
As for Little Enzo, he is healing from the leg amputation that was performed due to a bone infection.
Many other dogs have been castrated or vaccinated and they are learning to behave well before they get adopted.
I cannot seem to live my life alone now. I once travelled with these dogs around the Mexico and now I want to continue working with these dogs.
