Emily is the name of a 17 years old teen girl who runs a rescue for small animals. The name of her shelter is “Happy Hammie Haven”. The rescue shelter is currently the home for over sixty animals. They are as follows.
- 45 hamsters
- 1 Gerbil
- 11 bunnies
- 2 rats
- 1 mouse
- 5 Guinea Pigs
- 1 Chinchilla
- 1 Hedgehog
Majority of these animals have been rescued as pets from negligent and abusive owners while some of them have simply been given off to the shelter as these owners found it hard to raise them due to moving or hitting bad financial times.

This is Blinky! He’s an eyeless white hamster. He’s blind and deaf due to an awful breeder. It’s okay for him now, as he lives a great life at the shelter with all the tummy scratches he wants!
Emily makes salads like this every day for guinea pigs and rabbits. Hamsters also get tiny ones too.
This is Cream! Her old owner sold her cage months before they sold her to the shelter. She spent months living in a cardboard box with no heat lamp, which she NEEDS to live that was soaked in her own urine
Cream now gets love, plenty of cage space and even trips outside to eat worms! She’s much happier now!
Meet Scout! She came to the shelter in a small hamster cage, covered in her own urine and feces, with nicotine staining her legs. As soon Emily put her in her current huge cage, she spent her time grooming herself & now is quite the pretty bunny!
Blueberry is the diabetic dwarf hamster at the shelter! He has to get twice daily insulin shots to manage his glucose level
Petrie was housed with his brothers by an abusive breeder. Though he lived to tell his story, he had some awful wounds to show for it
